A local government organization in Edinburgh is seeking an Early Years Strategic Development Officer to support homeless children under 5 and ensure compliance with key policies. This role involves driving strategic development to facilitate access to early learning opportunities for disadvantaged families. Salary: £39,129 - £46,020
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
Early Years Strategic Development Officer
This post will support under 5s who are experiencing homelessness. Currently there are approximately 7,000 individuals in temporary housing in Edinburgh, many of these families have children under 5. The role will support homeless children into Early Learning Centres (ELC) and signpost them to services and resources such as Best Start Grants. In addition, the post will support strategic aspects of work, including the P1 transition project.
We are recruiting an Early Years Strategic Development Officer who will drive policy and development to ensure that the Council fulfils its duties as outlined in the Children and Young People's Act (2014), the national Early Years Framework, Edinburgh’s Early Years Strategy and Action Plan, and Edinburgh’s Parent and Carers Strategy and Action Plan.

This is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will also be required. An unconditional offer and commencement will be subject to satisfactory outcomes of these checks.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
