GSL Education are inviting dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to apply for the position of Early Years Practitioner in a vibrant primary school setting in Southampton, Hampshire. This full-time, permanent opportunity offers an immediate or after-summer start date and is ideally suited to those passionate about delivering quality care and learning to children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

About the Role:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting the developmental, emotional, and educational needs of young children in the EYFS within a mainstream primary school. Working closely with class teachers and support staff, you will provide a stimulating and safe learning environment where children can explore, grow, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging learning opportunities based on EYFS framework.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and leading structured play and learning sessions.
  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress, sharing insights with the teaching team and parents.
  • Support personal care needs in a respectful and nurturing manner.
  • Encourage children’s independence and social development.
  • Adapt support methods to suit individual pupil needs, including children with SEN.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in an Early Years setting, ideally within a primary school.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development milestones.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive, flexible approach to working with children.
  • Understanding or experience of supporting children with SEN is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
