Job description

Vacancy Information

Hourly rate of pay: £17.04 - £18.45
This is a 52-week non-sessional post, including working during school holidays.

Temporary until 8th August 2025.
Days and Hours of Work:
Monday, 08:00-13:30
Tuesday, 13:00-18:00
Wednesday & Thursday, 08:00-18:00 (30-minute break)
Friday, 12:30-18:00
Start date: ASAP.

Our nursery operates a 48-week model, open between 8.15am and 5.45pm. Children attend two days a week (plus alternate Fridays) to access their entitlement to the Scottish Government funded 1140 hours of free Early Learning and Childcare. We seek an enthusiastic and passionate Early Years Practitioner committed to high standards of practice. Experience with 1140h provision is advantageous.

Letham Mains Primary School, East Lothian Council's newest primary, opened in February 2021 and is rapidly growing. Our bright, spacious nursery offers extensive outdoor play opportunities, loved by our pupils.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent. Evidence of ongoing learning and current practice and legislation knowledge in Early Learning and Childcare is required.

SSSC registration
SSSC registration is mandatory. If not already registered, you must apply within 3 months of starting employment to ensure registration within 6 months.

PVG Membership
This role is a Regulated Role involving vulnerable groups, as per the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates must join or update their PVG Scheme membership before an offer is made. PVG records are regularly updated and any relevant disclosures will be discussed and investigated before employment confirmation.

Additional considerations
