Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting an Apprentice Practitioner for Family Centres. You will support activities for children under five, engage with parents and carers, and help families access services that make a real difference to their lives.

You’ll complete a Practitioner apprenticeship within 24 months, with attendance at required sessions. A full UK driving licence and vehicle access are expected for site-based work, with roles varying between workplace and occasional home-based days.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs including English and Maths are essential.
• Willingness to work towards a childcare qualification as part of the apprenticeship.
• Organised approach with ability to manage workloads and priorities.
• Commitment to knowledge of child development, early learning and safeguarding.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Promote and deliver activities that support early years and school readiness.
• Plan and deliver Stay and Play sessions for children and families.
• Work with parents to increase understanding of child development.
• Support outreach activities helping families access services.
• Develop relationships with volunteers and partner organisations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support children through Early Help where appropriate.
