Early Years Practitioner
Location: Alloa
Salary: A£12.60 per hour
The Role
To be involved in planning, supervising, and facilitating appropriately balanced early years learning experiences that follow the Curriculum for Excellence and the Pre-Birth to Three Curriculum. Provide a caring, safe, and welcoming environment for children, allowing each child to develop at their own pace. Planning will be guided by current national guidance and other relevant documentation, with a focus on child-led learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe, record, and plan through interaction, the needs of individual children.
- Monitor and evaluate children's development through Individual Learning Development (ILD) and Learning Intentions, implementing action plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents in planning for each child, supporting parental participation and community relations.
- Ensure the room is fully resourced, implementing the appropriate curriculum and facilitating learning experiences.
- Create a child-led environment that promotes learning through play and suitable experiences.
- Implement and promote awareness of equality within the nursery.
- Support the development of Well Being, Literacy, and Mathematics across the setting.
- Respond to children's physical needs, including toileting and nappy changing.
- Provide tailored learning experiences for children with additional support needs, in accordance with their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Follow child protection procedures and support children and families through lifestyle changes.
- Participate in outings, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Work effectively within a professional team, respecting each member's abilities.
- Collaborate with other professionals from various disciplines.
- Contribute to staff meetings on relevant topics.
- Act as a positive role model.
- Engage in training, sharing knowledge and good practices; training details to be documented in the CPD folder.
- Be registered with the SSSC or an equivalent body.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Possess an HNC or SVQ III in Childcare and Education or equivalent; registration with the SSSC is required or to be obtained.
- Knowledge and understanding of:
- The individual development needs of young children.
- The importance of parents/carers in children's lives and respecting this role.
- Local and national guidelines, curriculum, childcare provision, and procedures.
