Looking for a nursery where you can make a real difference while being part of a supportive and welcoming team?

At Ruskin House Nursery, we believe that exceptional Early Years education starts with exceptional people. We're passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident and excited to learn—and where our team feels valued, supported and encouraged to develop.

Located in the heart of Herne Hill, Ruskin House Nursery provides a caring and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, discover and learn through play. Our dedicated team is committed to getting to know every child as an individual and creating experiences that help them build confidence, independence and a love of learning. As part of Inspired Learning Group, you'll enjoy the close-knit feel of a friendly nursery while benefiting from the training, support and career progression opportunities available across our wider family of independent schools and nurseries.

We're looking for a passionate and qualified Early Years Practitioner with a minimum Level 2 Early Years qualification to join our friendly and dedicated team. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or looking to take the next step in your Early Years career, we'd love to hear from you.

We can offer either a full-time 40-hour contract or a 4-day-per-week contract, giving you some flexibility around your working week.

What you’ll be doing

As an Early Years Practitioner, you’ll play an important role in providing high-quality care and education, helping every child develop the confidence, independence and curiosity they need to thrive.

You’ll:

  • Plan and provide engaging, play-based learning experiences that reflect children’s individual interests, needs and stages of development.
  • Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to explore.
  • Observe, assess and celebrate children’s progress, using your knowledge of the EYFS to plan meaningful next steps.
  • Build strong and positive relationships with children, parents and carers, working in partnership to support every child’s development.
  • Support children’s communication, confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing through responsive and nurturing practice.
  • Encourage learning through both indoor and outdoor experiences, giving children plenty of opportunities to explore, investigate and discover.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of care, learning and professionalism across the nursery.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of your room and contribute positively to the wider nursery team.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and children’s wellbeing remain at the heart of everything you do.
  • Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to help continually develop and improve the experiences we provide for children and families.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A DfE-approved Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or Early Years setting.
  • Good knowledge of the EYFS, child development and safeguarding.
  • A caring, enthusiastic and positive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for providing high-quality Early Years education and care.
  • The ability to build warm, trusting relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • A willingness to learn, develop and contribute positively to the nursery team.

Why join Ruskin House Nursery?

We offer:

  • Salary up to £31,185 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

  • Annual salary reviews.
  • Discounted childcare.
  • Free lunch during your working day.
  • Generous holiday entitlement.
  • Health and wellbeing support.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
