Job summary

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a committed Early Years Practitioner to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early help services for children and families across Family Hubs, community venues and homes. You will support children aged 0–9 to achieve positive learning, development and wellbeing outcomes.

The role requires experience with early years, safeguarding knowledge, and a passion for inclusive practice, working with diverse families and partner agencies to reduce inequalities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience working with children aged 0–5 and their families.
• NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent).
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
• Understanding of child development and early attachments.
• Familiarity with early intervention strategies and working in diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging play and learning interventions aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Supporting expectant parents and families with children under three.
• Assisting in the development of speech, language, communication, and global development.
• Conducting assessments and maintaining accurate records to track progress.
• Collaborating with parents as their child’s first educator.
• Working with diverse and seldom-heard families to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes.
• Supporting children with emerging or identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Partnering with various agencies to ensure comprehensive support for families.
