GSL Education are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Early Years Practitioner for a mainstream primary school in Bournemouth, who is passionate about early childhood development and education. Join our team and play a pivotal role in nurturing children’s growth in their formative years, helping them develop into confident and engaged learners.

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning of young children within a primary setting. You will work closely with the teaching team to foster an inclusive, safe and nurturing environment where children can flourish socially, emotionally and academically. Your contributions will directly support children’s learning experiences, helping to lay a solid foundation for their future education.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that engage children and encourage them to reach their full potential.
  • Create a positive and stimulating learning environment, using your creativity and enthusiasm to inspire young learners.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, parents and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Monitor and assess children’s development, providing feedback and support to teachers and parents.
  • Encourage children’s social and emotional development, helping them to build confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
  • Support children with additional needs (e.g., special educational needs or English as an additional language) using tailored strategies to ensure their progress.
  • Assist in managing classroom activities and routines, ensuring a safe, organised and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that teaching and learning strategies are effective and meet the individual needs of each child.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in Early Years Education (such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, NVQ in Early Years, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as an Early Years Practitioner in a primary or early years setting, with a strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and the ability to implement it effectively in daily activities.
  • SEN experience is a bonus.
  • Uni students who want a career in education are encouraged to apply.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • A strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Ability to organise activities and tasks efficiently while managing the needs of individual children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

Why Join GSL Education?

  • Competitive pay at £12.82 per hour, reflecting your skills and commitment to early years education.
  • Full-time contract with the flexibility for part-time work for the right candidate.
  • Be part of a supportive and inclusive team, where your contributions are valued and appreciated.
  • Access to continuous support and guidance from GSL Education throughout your placement.

If you are a dedicated Early Years Practitioner, passionate about supporting the development of young learners and ready to make a difference in a vibrant primary school setting, we would love to hear from you.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
