Job summary

TeacherActive are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham for an enthusiastic Early Years Play-Based Learning Assistant to join their EYFS team from September.

This role involves supporting children in Nursery and Reception, delivering engaging play-based activities indoors and outdoors, and helping with early phonics, literacy and numeracy development in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in EYFS or UK primary school settings.
• Passion for Early Years education and child development.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS via Update Service (or current DBS).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support children in Nursery and Reception throughout the school day.

The Role:

• Supporting children in Nursery and Reception throughout the school day.
• Delivering engaging play-based learning activities both indoors and outdoors.
• Assisting with early phonics, communication, literacy and numeracy development.
• Encouraging children's independence, creativity and confidence through play.
• Supporting children with a range of learning needs to ensure every child can access the curriculum.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Helping to create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience working within an EYFS or UK primary school setting.
• Have a genuine passion for Early Years education and child development.
• Be patient, nurturing and enthusiastic.
• Be confident using play to support children's learning and development.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
