Durham University is seeking a part-time nursery practitioner for its outstanding nursery. The role involves working with children aged 0-5 years, supporting their development in a supportive environment. Candidates with a passion for early childhood education and relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
The Role and the Department
The nursery practitioner position is to work in an "outstanding" nursery with children aged 0-5 years. We are a large setting split into four rooms, with an excellent partnership with our families. We are seeking someone with experience and enthusiasm to join our nursery team. This is a part-time position, and candidates should have experience working with children aged 0-5 years.
At Durham University Day Nursery, we aim to provide high-quality childcare in a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children from 0 to 5. We operate in partnership with parents, helping children to be happy, independent, and well-adjusted emotionally and socially. Our nursery promotes self-confidence and a positive attitude to learning in all children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, home language, special educational needs, disability, or ability. We offer a broad, balanced, and diverse curriculum where learning is fun and provides basic skills for the future. We recognize that every child is unique and aim to support each child's maximum developmental potential by paying attention to their individual needs. We also support Durham University students and staff with parental responsibilities to help them achieve their goals, welcoming both university and non-university staff/students.
The Nursery Practitioner has key responsibilities to ensure the quality of early years provision is embedded under the EYFS framework and that safeguarding is a top priority.
