Job description

Location: Charleston School, Charleston Road, Cove, Aberdeen

Duration: Apprenticeship, Full Time

The Modern Apprenticeship Programme is targeted at building our workforce of the future. Funding for training is available for applicants aged 16-19 and 20-24 (depending on the framework) and for disabled and care-experienced applicants between the age of 20-29. Job purpose/about the role

To work in collaboration and under the supervision of Early Learning and Childcare teams to provide high quality and learner-centred Early Learning and Childcare to children from 2 – 5 years.

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, roles requiring PVG membership will require candidates to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above, including teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour).

The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership cost, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.

This position is an Early Years Modern Apprentice working in Charleston Nursery. The contract is fixed-term from August 2025 to July 2027.

Requirements

Good written and numerical skills gained through either Standard Grade s/National 4 or 5 qualifications or relevant work experience.

• Ability to communicate effectively, including non-verbal, verbal, and written forms of communication.
• Good observational and listening skills.
