Job description

A brand new family-owned independent nursery with two settings: one in the heart of Trowbridge town centre above Baloos Softplay Centre, providing full day care for children aged 2-5 years, and the other in Melksham along Spa Road, offering full day care for children aged 0-5 years.

Join the team at Bumpers Nursery and train towards an Early Years Lead Practitioner apprenticeship.

The purpose of the job is to:

  1. Support the Management in establishing ‘Excellence in childcare with a difference’.
  2. Maintain high standards of leadership and personal development for staff and children.
  3. Liaise with all other team leaders.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Upholding our mission statement: ‘Excellence in childcare with a difference’.
  • Supporting Management and undertaking day-to-day duties in their absence, such as managing staff ratios, handling emails and messages.
  • Inducting new staff members.
  • Conducting staff appraisals, PDP, and TNA.
  • Implementing and monitoring area business plans, including training.
  • Organizing area and management meetings.
  • Supporting effective communication with senior staff, including Management, Senco, Team Leaders, Mentors, and Assessors.
  • Supporting disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Marketing the nursery to prospective clients.
  • Inducting new parents and children.
  • Managing learning journeys for key children and team members.
  • Assisting with ILP implementation for SEN children.
  • Liaising with parents about their child's progress and facilitating meetings.
  • Participating in core training provided by management.
  • Supporting Parents’ evenings and social events.
  • Ensuring effective communication between staff and parents.
  • Monitoring and supporting behavior management policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with National Care Standards, Ofsted, Equality Act, and internal policies.
  • Implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through daily observations, planning, and record-keeping.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
  • Strong understanding of EYFS and child development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for working with young children.
  • Teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in planning and delivering learning activities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Entry Requirements

Same as above qualifications and experience, emphasizing the importance of relevant early years experience and understanding of EYFS.
