Job Description:

Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 – Childcare Apprenticeship – Staunton-on-Wye Pre-School & Kids Club

The Aspire Training Team is currently looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and reliable individual to complete an Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 at Staunton-on-Wye Pre-School & Kids Club as a Room Leader.

Set in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, Staunton-on-Wye Pre-school opened in 1984. Since 2010, we have been in our current, eco-friendly premises. Our home is light and spacious with continuous access to its own large, secure outside play area.

Our team of highly-qualified Early Years Practitioners follow the EYFS 'Statutory Framework' to develop children's learning. They also work with the children as part of our ‘Breakfast Club’ and ‘Kids’ Club’, which is very popular with children attending neighbouring Staunton-on-Wye Primary School.

We are a charity led by a volunteer committee where parent and carer participation is welcomed and appreciated.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children.
  • Planning and delivering engaging activities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Observing and assessing children’s development and progress, ensuring individual needs are met.
  • Building strong relationships with parents and caregivers, facilitating open communication about their child's development.
  • Working collaboratively with your colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with all nursery policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices.
  • Supporting the deputy and manager with the daily running of the setting.
  • Providing support and guidance to the nursery practitioners.
Hours:
  • Staunton-on-Wye Pre-School & Kids Club are open all year-round; from 07:45-16:45 on Monday and Friday and 07:45-17:45 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • The successful candidate will be required to work between 35-40 hours per week, with shift patterns to be discussed.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification or equivalent.
  • You must be able to gain a clear DBS.
  • Have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English Language, or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an early years setting.
