Job summary

Bright Horizons Bracknell Day Nursery and Pre School is seeking an Early Years Kitchen Assistant. You will support the Chef in preparing nutritious meals for children, manage dietary requirements, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

The role requires prior cooking experience, a passion for nutrition, and knowledge of food allergies. DBS checks and safeguarding duties apply; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in a domestic or commercial setting.
• Passion for nutrition and promoting healthy eating.
• Knowledge of managing dietary requirements, including allergies.
• Food Safety Certification (CIEH L2+ or equivalent) to be completed on day 1.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef with preparation and cooking of age-appropriate meals, minimise wastage, and keep the kitchen clean and safe.
• In the Chef's absence, take responsibility for kitchen running and ensure dietary requirements are communicated to teams.
• Maintain clear communication with colleagues, children, and parents regarding food and safety.
