Job summary

Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to join the Best Start Family Hubs team on a full‑time fixed-term contract until 30 March 2029. You will work with families, health professionals and Early Years settings to embed inclusive practice and support children with emerging needs.

You will design targeted group work, coach practitioners, and help families access timely support while ensuring safeguarding and accurate record-keeping across a multi‑agency setting.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Health or Social Care required.
• GCSEs in English and Maths (A* to C) required.
• Experience identifying and supporting children with emerging needs.

Responsibilities

• Promote inclusive practice and support early intervention across families.
• Design and deliver targeted groups and interventions for families.
• Provide practical advice and guidance to parents and carers.
• Build trusted relationships with families to support development.
• Assist in smooth transitions into early years settings and primary school.
• Maintain records, monitor impact and contribute to local priorities.
• Safeguarding responsibilities are central to the role.
