Job description

Early Years Group Leader - Summer - St Albans, Hertfordshire

Hours of work: 08:30 - 17:30

Salary: £421.52 - £628.71 per week, depending on age, experience, and qualifications.

(Contracts for February Half Term to be issued at 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1st April.)

Reportable to: Early Years Manager, Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

EARLY YEARS GROUP LEADER DUTIES
  1. Ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is implemented.
  2. Assist with setting up and maintaining a suitable, inviting base room that is tidy and well-equipped.
  3. Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for children.
  4. Follow the daily activity timetable to deliver a variety of sessions as promised.
  5. Collaborate with staff to deliver sessions effectively.
  6. Be the children's Key Worker, managing communication about their experiences.
  7. Ensure children's needs are met through active supervision and attention, including breaks and lunch.
  8. Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities with enthusiasm and structure.
  9. Encourage maximum participation while following OFSTED guidance.
  10. Get to know children as individuals, incorporating their interests into activities.
  11. Take responsibility for welfare and safeguarding.
  12. Ensure safe use of equipment.
  13. Facilitate development through Explore and Play sessions.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Working towards or holding a relevant childcare qualification.
  2. Knowledge and experience with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  3. Be aged 18 or over by the start date.
  4. Eligible to work in the UK.
  5. Provide satisfactory references.
  6. Enthusiastic, caring, organized, with excellent communication skills and initiative.
  7. Ability to adapt to challenges in a childcare setting.
  8. Obtain or have an existing enhanced DBS check.
  9. Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  10. Complete annual online training.
  11. Attend an Induction Training Day prior to camp opening.
  12. Assist with pack-up at camp end.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Follow health and safety protocols diligently.
  2. Organize activities appropriate to your qualifications and skills.
  3. Encourage children to try new activities and follow the timetable.
  4. Maintain children's safety, respect, and communication about behavior.
  5. Follow all camp systems and guidelines for child welfare.
  6. Promote healthy lifestyle, hygiene, and welfare.
  7. Report concerns regarding Child Protection.
  8. Make accommodations for children with additional needs.
  9. Deliver Skills Builder sessions if available.
  10. Support swimming sessions (bring swimwear and spare T-shirt).
  11. Perform other duties as required, adapting to organizational needs.
