Early Years Group Leader - Summer - St Albans, Hertfordshire
Hours of work: 08:30 - 17:30
Salary: £421.52 - £628.71 per week, depending on age, experience, and qualifications.
(Contracts for February Half Term to be issued at 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1st April.)
Reportable to: Early Years Manager, Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

EARLY YEARS GROUP LEADER DUTIES
- Ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is implemented.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining a suitable, inviting base room that is tidy and well-equipped.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for children.
- Follow the daily activity timetable to deliver a variety of sessions as promised.
- Collaborate with staff to deliver sessions effectively.
- Be the children's Key Worker, managing communication about their experiences.
- Ensure children's needs are met through active supervision and attention, including breaks and lunch.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities with enthusiasm and structure.
- Encourage maximum participation while following OFSTED guidance.
- Get to know children as individuals, incorporating their interests into activities.
- Take responsibility for welfare and safeguarding.
- Ensure safe use of equipment.
- Facilitate development through Explore and Play sessions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Working towards or holding a relevant childcare qualification.
- Knowledge and experience with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Be aged 18 or over by the start date.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Provide satisfactory references.
- Enthusiastic, caring, organized, with excellent communication skills and initiative.
- Ability to adapt to challenges in a childcare setting.
- Obtain or have an existing enhanced DBS check.
- Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
- Complete annual online training.
- Attend an Induction Training Day prior to camp opening.
- Assist with pack-up at camp end.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently.
- Organize activities appropriate to your qualifications and skills.
- Encourage children to try new activities and follow the timetable.
- Maintain children's safety, respect, and communication about behavior.
- Follow all camp systems and guidelines for child welfare.
- Promote healthy lifestyle, hygiene, and welfare.
- Report concerns regarding Child Protection.
- Make accommodations for children with additional needs.
- Deliver Skills Builder sessions if available.
- Support swimming sessions (bring swimwear and spare T-shirt).
- Perform other duties as required, adapting to organizational needs.
