Job summary

Peterborough College is seeking a Nursery Practitioner / Early Years Educator to join its nursery team in Peterborough. The role covers caring for children aged 0–5, delivering high-quality early education, and maintaining safe, stimulating environments.

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Childcare qualification and Level 2 English and Maths, with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and a passion for early years education.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 Childcare qualification with Level 2 English and Maths is required.
• Experience with EYFS and caring for children aged 0–5 is essential.
• Strong communication, observation and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of care and education to children in the nursery.
• Maintain accurate individual records and support children's independence.
• Follow EYFS routines and assist with meal/snack preparation.
• Act as key person for designated children, observe and plan activities.
• Conduct initial parent work and host consultations during the year.
• Collaborate with external agencies to support child outcomes.
• Supervise nursery assistants and deputise for the Room Leader when needed.
• Administer basic first aid according to nursery procedures.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and college policies are followed.
• Attend regular room and team meetings to support nursery development.
