Vacancy Description

The apprentice is expected to support and follow the lead of the room supervisor in providing a stimulating and varied programme of educational play whilst ensuring at all times the safety and well-being of the children. In order to achieve this the apprentice will:

  • Help prepare and fully set out the play areas within the room before the children arrive and tidy up at the end of each session
  • Take part and help the children and staff with all activities
  • Listen to, encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the safekeeping of the children
  • Contribute towards planning of the EYFS and observations for children’s learning journeys
  • Take part in special events
  • Attend staff/relevant meetings, courses or training
  • Advise the Room Supervisor of any matter requiring attention such as concerns about a child, staff or equipment
  • Treat any information regarding the children, their families or other staff completely confidential
  • Maintain the nursery environment, including cleaning resources and other such jobs as may be deemed necessary from time to time for the efficient running of the nursery
  • Be given time out of numbers each week to study to enable research or complete assignments
  • Meet weekly with the Room Supervisor or The Manager to update them of your progress

Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.

On-the-job training will be delivered by the Employer and Apprenticeship delivery will be with New College Swindon and will consist of the following elements:

  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) to meet the EYFS requirements
  • Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator
  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
