Job description

Early Years Educators work with and care for children from birth to 5 years. They play a massive role in supporting children to have the best start to their education. As an Early Years specialist, you will personally help to close the gap and increase the life chances of the children you work with.

The Role

Working alongside qualified Early Years Practitioners and professionals, you will work towards your own Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification. Your mission is to provide exceptional early years care in a safe, nurturing and fulfilling environment whilst inspiring children to unlock their full potential through key skills and values which will establish them as gifted citizens of the world.

The role is a full-time role and will be all year round, 5 days a week. We have different shifts starting and finishing at different times between the hours of 8am and 6pm. You will take on the role of a key worker and have your own key children to plan for and observe each week, to improve their learning goals, while building up positive relationships with the child and their family. You will work as part of a team to provide a fun and stimulating environment for the children.

Wage offered is apprentice minimum wage and will be £6.40 per hour for the first year.

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Desired.
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Desired.

The Training

You will be completing an Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship. The expected duration of this course is 18 months on a full-time basis.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship
  • NCFE Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE)
  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid OR Level 3 Award Emergency Paediatric First Aid
  • Apprentices will achieve an EYE qualification which has been approved to count towards the EYFS level 3 child: staff ratios.

About the Employer

Cherry Tree Nurseries is split into three age groups: Babies, Toddlers and Pre-school. Each group organises age-appropriate activities for the children in their care. Our open plan nursery is light and airy with an in-house kitchen producing freshly cooked nutritional food every day. We cater for all dietary requirements.

Here at Cherry Tree Nurseries we follow the Birth to 5 matters framework. This sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well. It ensures we can observe, assess and plan for the children’s next steps, take on parent/carer and any professional feedback to ensure children make good progress. The framework also ensures children are kept healthy and safe and that children have the knowledge and skills they need to start school. The Curriculum has the following areas of learning - three Prime areas and four Specific areas.

Details of working week

  • Planning and supervising fun and educational stimulating activities.
  • Managing a daily schedule that includes activities, toilet breaks, lunch and rest time.
  • Observing children and taking notes of any problematic behaviour.
  • Feeding and changing children (babies).
  • Communicating with parents and staff members.
  • Ensuring the safety of children.
  • Helping children learn numeracy and language through daily activities.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, trainings, work shift hours.
