LEVEL 3 EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR

HOURS: Full time Monday to Thursday, 7:30/7:45-5:45pm

WHAT YOU WILL OFFER

PASSION

You may not already have experience in an outdoor setting but you will be passionate about providing teaching and learning opportunities in the outdoor environment for all children. You will share our passion for inclusivity, child led learning, and our environmentally friendly values.

EXPERIENCE

You will already have experience working with under 5's in a nursery setting, preferably with a similar ethos to that of our own or have the passion to learn and adapt to a new way of working quickly. You will also hold a minimum level 2 full and relevant childcare qualification.

CREATIVITY

This isn't about being able to make beautiful displays or draw pictures. You will be able to think on your feet and outside the box. You will be great at problem solving and will be solution focussed. You will want to create exciting play environments for the children.

ORGANISATION

You will be able to organise your time so that you can meet the needs of all children whilst also monitoring and supporting their progress and development. You will work well within a team and communicate effectively.

We are open for 48 weeks a year (2 week closure period at Christmas and 2 weeks over Summer, as well as all bank holidays and additional holiday to suit you). Our nursery is closed on a Friday so you also get a 3 day weekend EVERY WEEKEND!

JOB PURPOSE:
To provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and to maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment. She/he will be responsible for curriculum planning within the nursery. S/he will support managing the provision, in the absence of the Nursery Manager

MAIN DUTIES:


1. To supervise relevant staff on a daily basis.

2. To supervise volunteers, students on placements and work experience in the nursery.

3. To supervise the children where appropriate and to protect them from dangerous or harmful situations.

4. To share any child protection concerns immediately with the Nursery Manager

5. To provide a high level of care that will enhance the children's general health and well-being.

6. To lead and be responsible for a specific role within the nursery to be assigned by the manager, for example, Health and Safety.

7. To act as a key person to a small group of children and to ensure their needs are reflected in the planning of routines and activities.

8. To be aware of children's special educational needs and ensure staff support these children effectively.

9. To keep informative, accurate and up-to-date records, including records of progress and any behavioural or developmental reports.

10. To liaise regularly with parents/carers about their children's needs, interests and progress.

11. To maintain a safe working environment for both staff and children. This will involve light cleaning duties and ground/garden maintenance due to the nature of our outdoor setting.

12. To arrange and attend parents'/carers' meetings to allow two-way discussion of their children's progress. This may involve working overtime to meet the needs of parents/carers.

13. To contribute to and attend his/her supervisions and staff appraisal.

14. To contribute to staff supervisions and appraisals alongside the manager where required

15. To attend regular team meetings.

16. To liaise and work in partnership with other agencies, both statutory and voluntary, where appropriate.

17. To attend any conferences, training events or meetings as identified by the Nursery Manager and to keep up to date with current good practice.

18. To adhere to the nursery's policies and code of practice on confidentiality.

19. To promote the ethos of the nursery setting at all times.

20. To perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the Nursery Manager
