Job summary

Bright Horizons Southampton Nursling is seeking an Early Years Assistant to join our Southampton Nursling nursery. You will work as part of a team looking after babies and children up to age 5, with opportunities to support a child requiring 1:1 SEN assistance.

Hours and days can be negotiated at interview. We offer a 40% childcare discount for the first child, enhanced parental leave, 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and access to professional development and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children ideal but not essential – Nursery Bank Staff, Nursery Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator, Nanny, Childminder or similar.
• Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child.
• Ability to develop trust and strong working partnerships with both colleagues and parents.
• Ability to use a variety of communication techniques with both children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Look after babies and children up to age 5 as part of a team, supporting development towards milestones through interactive play, reading and activities.
• Support colleagues with each child’s development and maintain safeguarding standards.
