Job description


As a skilled independent practitioner undertake clinical duties in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Units based at St. Michael’s and Weston General Hospital.

Working across professional boundaries in collaboration with colleagues, members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of patient care

Provide a high quality, efficient service and demonstrate clinical expertise in Early Pregnancy.

Assess, diagnose and provide appropriate management, patient information and follow up, in line with local protocols and NICE guidelines.

You will work as part of a weekend rota at St. Michael’s.



· Use skills and judgement in diagnostic reasoning and refer/escalate accordingly

· To undertake extended scope of Professional Practice roles including: vaginal and abdominal examination, venepuncture, cannulation

· Plan, prioritise and assist with day to day organisation of workload, triage referrals and ensure a good throughput of patients is

· achieved maximising capacity to meet demand for the service.

· Communicate and liaise with patients, clinicians, other healthcare professionals and representatives as part of a multidisciplinary team, in an effective manner to ensure an efficient service.

· Provide a specialist informative telephone service

· To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of a wide ranging physical and emotional needs of our patients and their families.

· To promote clinically effective care by demonstrating compliance with evidence based practice.

· Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
