Job summary

Ivel Valley School & College in Biggleswade is seeking a part-time cleaner for the morning shift (6:00–8:30 am or 6:30–8:30 am), 2 hours daily. The role runs for 50 weeks a year with 24 days of holiday plus October and February half term off unpaid.

You will clean classrooms, offices, toilets and other areas, adhere to health and safety policies including COSHH, and report issues to the Site Agent/Caretaker.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy to read instructions
• Previous experience in a similar post
• Ability to work as member of a team
• Ability to work under pressure at times
• Ability to use IT to access and read emails, policies and complete e-learning
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations including COSHH

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning in classrooms, offices, toilets, changing rooms and halls
• Promote high health and safety standards; follow COSHH and safety policies
• Report issues to Site Agent/Caretaker or deputy
• Use cleaning materials economically; inform when stocks are low
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order
• Assist with non-routine cleaning tasks and major cleaning during summer holidays
• Work in line with school guidelines and attend safety training
• Maintain confidentiality of school matters; protect sensitive information
• Undertake other duties of a similar level and responsibility as required
