Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health nurse to join our specialist team based at Congleton Library, working with patients aged 14–65 experiencing first episode psychosis, for a 12 months fixed term contract. The role involves specialist assessment and treatment of patients presenting with symptoms of first episode psychosis within a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, a psychiatrist, therapists, clinical support workers and peer support workers.

There is a wide range of experience and skills within the team, and we are passionate about nurturing our staff to develop their skills. All new starters commence in post on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. P2C offers up to 3 weeks of training to support you to meet the induction and initial training requirements of the role.

We recruit using a values-based approach, with assessment based on competence and alignment with the Trust's values. Applicants should consider the Trust's values and provide examples from work experience or personal life to demonstrate these values in behaviour. An applicant guide is available; further help and support for completing your application can be accessed via our website. For queries, contact the recruitment team at cwp.recruitment@nhs.net or 01244 393100.

If you have a disability and meet the essential criteria described in the person specification for an available position, you may be eligible for the Guaranteed Interview Scheme. The Trust offers the Guaranteed Interview Scheme to armed forces community applicants who meet the essential criteria and encourages applications from armed forces reservists or cadet force adult volunteers. Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted from salary after appointment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service; a small annual fee of £16 applies.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate to plan an individual's care needs, assess risk factors and implement interventions in line with access and wait-time standards to improve outcomes for the individual and their families. You will be offered a thorough induction period including shadowing established team members and regular supervision. You should be willing to engage in continuing professional development opportunities and demonstrate excellent communication, report writing and assessment skills. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, with awareness and understanding of the EIPS model and the Mental Health Act. Access to transport for work purposes is essential.
