At Safran Seats, we are unique within aerospace, as we interface with both the world's biggest airlines and airframers alike, with the largest seats portfolio of all seats suppliers. One day you could be liaising with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Job Summary:

Develop, implement and co-ordinate the Safran Seats early talent development programmes including: apprenticeships, graduate opportunities, internships and sandwich placements and other careers initiatives required to support the development of our future talent pipeline.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Planning
    • Work in conjunction with Exec and management teams to develop a holistic early talent development offer for Safran Seats which supports our goal of developing and maintaining an expert and resilient workforce.
    • Scope and implement relevant, value adding programmes including apprenticeships, graduate opportunities, internships and sandwich placements aligned to agreed workforce development priorities.
    • Create an annual plan for recruitment of apprentices based on business needs and strategic workforce development plans.
  2. Attraction
    • Develop creative ways to enhance and promote our employer brand and profile in the early talent marketplace including external advertising, Safran Seats website and social media to build the reputation as a destination employer to attract and retain the very best early careers talent.
    • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, colleges and universities; acting as a liaison for outreach with industry organisations and attending careers fairs as appropriate to promote opportunities.
    • Work in collaboration with the HR team to develop effective, fair and engaging selection methodologies to identify the best early careers talent.
    • Monitor diversity of intakes onto the various programmes in order to identify any particular underrepresented groups and develop action plans to address concerns raised.
  3. Programme design
    • Work closely with key stakeholders to shape programmes that deliver against the organisational skills development needs and prepare early talent for substantive roles in line with organisational demand.
    • Match development needs to available apprenticeship standards ensuring that programmes are fit for organisational purpose.
Job Requirements

Knowledge, Experience, Training and Qualifications:

Degree or relevant professional qualification or
Equivalent experience demonstrating this level of ability - Essential
Significant relevant work experience within L&D, HR, apprenticeships or education - Essential
Experience of designing and implementing development programmes - Essential
Experience of providing one to one developmental support - Essential
Experience of apprenticeship, graduate or other early talent development programmes - Essential

Competencies, Behaviours and Skills:

Strong understanding of key issues in developing an early talent strategy - Desirable
Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise activities and co-ordinate input from internal and external partners - Desirable
Good understanding of the UK apprenticeships legal context and how best to utilise Levy funding - Desirable
Strong communicator who has the confidence and ability to represent the organisation at careers fairs and formal promotion opportunities (e.g. presentations at schools, colleges and universities) - Desirable
Ability to establish and manage relationships with external training providers resulting in high quality and timely provision - Desirable
Accurate and methodical with an excellent attention to detail - Desirable
Ability to work independently whilst also supporting and drawing on resources across the wider department - Desirable
