At Tradewind Recruitment, we are proud to support schools with high-quality staff who can make a real difference. We're currently working with a well-regarded secondary school in Merton seeking an experienced EAL HLTA to join their team from September 2025.

This role is ideal for someone confident in supporting students for whom English is an additional language. You will play a key part in helping pupils access the curriculum, improve their language skills, and achieve academic success-through both in-class support and targeted intervention sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering small-group and one-to-one EAL support

  • Assisting with planning and adapting resources to meet language needs

  • Supporting newly arrived students with induction and integration

  • Working closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and share strategies

  • Leading interventions and supporting across a range of subjects

What We're Looking For:

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience supporting EAL learners

  • Strong understanding of EAL strategies and inclusive teaching practices

  • Experience working in a secondary school environment (preferred)

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A proactive, adaptable, and supportive approach
