Network Controller - Light Rail

Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR

Salary From: £36,501 to £41,153 per annum + Excellent Benefits!

Contract: Full time, permanent

We are now recruiting for a Network Controller who will join our bustling Operations Department!

In this role you will be reporting to the Network Manager and will proactively monitor the MML tram network to ensure a safe, reliable and efficient operation at all hours of duty.

In addition to this, as a Network Controller you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting MML in its objective in offering a safe, reliable and efficient tram service along with an excellent customer service to the public.
  • Controlling operational response to incidents.
  • Controlling incidents on the network and give instructions to restore service as soon as possible in a safe manner.
  • Starting to implement the service regulation by measuring headway.
  • Carrying out all electrical switching and emergency isolations as required.
  • Proactively monitor CCTV across the network.
  • Providing clear and consistent communications and instructions to deliver the best service in normal conditions and in case of disruptions.
  • Working closely with customer services to deliver correct and precise information.
  • Providing correct and precise information to passengers via PID's in the absence of customer service team.
  • Providing excellent communication in relation to the service (by radio or phone).
  • Ensuring all information gathered for the control log is accurate and of the required standard.
  • Providing timely service update as required.
  • Liaising with the Emergency Services.
  • Providing clear and detailed reports, as and when required.
  • Reporting faults identified on the network in a timely manner.
  • Utilising Office 365 and SharePoint on a regular basis.
  • Utilising Agility, SmartTram and SCADA.
  • Utilising CCTV and recording equipment.
  • All mobile controller duties including speed checks, incident supervision (on site).

To Be Successful In This Role, You Must Possess

  • Network, operations and customer service expertise.
  • A resilient attitude is paramount to manage different stakeholders needs both internal and external in regard to service disruptions.
  • Relevant operational experience within MML.
  • A full UK driving licence is required for the role.
  • Current tram driving competency.

  • Able to manage priorities effectively with enough flexibility to respond to changing needs and requirements.
  • Able to give and receive feedback effectively.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships as all levels.

It is essential to undertake a drug and alcohol test, in line with current company procedures and policy to be successful in this position.
