Location: Remote (UK-based only)

Overview:

We are hiring an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme for a leading insurance client. You'll play a key role in delivering secure, automated cloud environments that support business-critical applications. This is a hands-on, delivery-oriented role requiring deep expertise in AWS, infrastructure automation, and enterprise application support. You will be stepping in to support continuity during a period of contractor transition.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Translate high-level architecture into working AWS infrastructure environments
2. Build environments based on HLDs, aligning with architectural standards and patterns
3. Use Terraform and Ansible to implement infrastructure-as-code and automate application/service deployments
4. Support promotion of releases across environments through to production
5. Administer and maintain Snowflake and SQL Server from an infrastructure/operations perspective
6. Ensure environments are built securely and aligned with DevOps and cloud best practices
7. Collaborate with Architects, Security, and other engineering teams to ensure consistent and compliant infrastructure delivery
8. Contribute to the installation and automation of applications/services
9. Apply working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory to support hybrid environments

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (essential)
2. Proven track record using Terraform and Ansible for IAC and automation
3. Infrastructure administration of Snowflake and SQL Server
4. Experience building and managing environments based on architectural designs
5. Familiarity with secure, enterprise-grade environments (no direct production access, role separation, etc.)
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, particularly Windows Server and Active Directory
7. Ability to deliver under pressure with minimal oversight in a fully remote setup
8. Background in insurance or financial services
9. Exposure to middleware or application integration projects
10. Understanding of front-end application delivery pipelines
