What you'll bring to the team

Scenic Production Technician
Location: THORPE PARK Resort, KT16 8PN
Hours: Unsociable hours, evening and weekend work may be required
Salary: Competitive

We are seeking a highly skilled Scenic Production Technician. The successful candidate will play a key role in all aspects of the delivery of our award-winning FRIGHT NIGHTS event. The role will be consistently challenging and varied, from building large attractions to delivering innovative and ever-changing stage shows.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that high Health & Safety standards are maintained in daily operations, set construction period, and event derigs.
  • Own and be responsible for all scenic elements within the Production department.
  • Work within all phases of set construction, carpentry, assembly, and scenic painting.
  • Assist in the installation of all projects, including our fright nights attractions and stage shows.
  • Deliver the highest quality of events alongside the entertainments management team.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the entertainment’s performance team and all internal stakeholders.
  • Implement consistent maintenance of set pieces and react to urgent repairs when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the wider production team to deliver a high-quality product, utilizing tech and set dressing to enhance the guest experience, ensuring proactive maintenance and servicing of all assets.
  • Work alongside the production team to deliver events outside of a scenic focus, including rigging lighting, sound, and operating shows.
  • Support the research and development of new products, forging close relationships with H&S and in line with budget to bring in new and exciting products.
  • Existing skill set may include work with poly carving, scenic painting, and construction of scenic flats in both internal and external environments. Previous experience in works involving metal, wood, plastic, paint, chemicals, and adhesives. Use of power tools and scenic utensils in a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must be energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to work in a team in intense environments to tight deadlines with a positive attitude. Successful candidates must have a strong work ethic and be prepared to work weekends, bank holidays, evenings, and long hours during peak periods. A flexible mindset is a crucial quality for this role.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Training in set construction, scenic artistry, and proficient skills with power tools.
  • Real-life working experience in a scenic construction role.
  • Competency using a range of power tools.
  • Ability to work unsociable hours and thrive under pressure.
  • Experience rigging lighting and sound equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and time manage.
  • Training in Production Arts.
  • Knowledge and training in BS7909, BS7671, LOLER, PUWER, EAWR, HASAWA, and other industry-specific health and safety legislation.
