Job description

The Service & Team:

The Maritime Section is looking to recruit three Seasonal Part Time Patrol Officers for the River Fal to cover the summer season. Two will work as part of a team covering every other weekend, and one will cover evening patrols Monday to Friday.

The Role:

These roles are responsible for undertaking general maritime duties related to the collection of mooring, anchoring, berthing, and pontoon fees, minor maintenance, refuse disposal, and enforcing local bye-laws as necessary within the Ports of Truro and Penryn. Additionally, they will assist with the day-to-day running of Malpas Marina. These positions will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

The weekend role will require working Saturday and Sunday every other weekend, covering 8 hours per day from 0800hrs to 1600hrs and 1600hrs to 2000hrs on a Saturday once every 4 weeks. The weekday role will require working Monday to Friday, 1600hrs to 2000hrs, but with some flexibility. Bank holiday working is necessary as part of this role.

All positions will commence at the beginning of May and finish at the end of September 2024 and will require some flexibility with hours to meet the needs of the service.

What you’ll need to succeed:

These positions provide an ideal opportunity for anyone who loves working on the water and is looking for a seasonal part-time position. You will need to have the ability to work alone and on your own initiative, excellent customer care skills, knowledge of local waters, and an RYA Powerboat competency qualification.
