Job Summary

Devonport Naval Base is the largest Naval Base in Europe. It is a 650 acre site with 15,000 acres of water space, employing 12,000 people on site. The Base is primarily focused on delivering timely deep maintenance to the UK’s submarine fleet. It is also the operating home base for frigates, amphibious Ships, Royal Marines. It employs more than 10% of Plymouth’s workforce and contributes to 14% of Plymouth’s economy.

Devonport Naval Base is the nerve centre for the Royal Navy in the South West. It supports operations around the globe and provides the ships, submarines, people, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy. Job Description

  • To be accountable to the Deputy Estate Manager (Naval Base Estate) for the delivery of the FMSP Asset Management function, Maintenance and Performance function.
  • In direct support of the Deputy Estate Manager (Naval Base Estate), provide the discrete Intelligent Customer (IC) role for the Estates Intelligent Customer function with Babcock principally executed through the Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contract. (See Generic IC ToRs in the IC Handbook)
  • Work with the Deputy Estate Manager (Naval Base Estate) and wider department to ensure a one team approach to assurance, contract management and administration support across the estates team.
  • To assist in the development of the organisations asset management transformation programme by aligning with ISO 55000 requirements and to support the development and retain oversight of the asset management plans produced by the industry partner.
  • In direct support of the Deputy Estate Manager (Naval Base Estate), provide administrative support to maintain asset information, KPI and compliance data.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Person specification

Essential: Minimum UK Regulated Qualification Framework – Level 3 qualification, preferably in a related subject to the role (Facilities Management) or a Level 2 qualification with extensive relevant experience at the discretion of the Deputy Head.

Desirable: Asset/Facilities Management related discipline or willing to work towards an appropriate qualification within 6 months of taking up position.

Qualifications

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
