About Us

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency dedicated to keeping the UK safe. We utilize cutting-edge technology and partnerships to identify, analyze, and disrupt threats, working alongside MI5 and MI6. We offer a supportive, inclusive environment emphasizing teamwork.

The Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for protecting our organization against cyber threats such as malware, insider threats, DDoS attacks, and phishing. Your daily tasks will include investigating alerts, analyzing logs and network traffic, monitoring security alarms, developing detection content, utilizing threat intelligence, and responding to breaches. You will lead process improvements, mentor junior analysts, and support digital forensics and security incident management. Staying updated with the latest cybersecurity tools and techniques and reviewing past alerts will also be part of your responsibilities.

About You

You should have a background in cyber security analysis and a passion for IT. Experience with host intrusion detection is desirable but training will be provided. You must have at least 6 months of experience as a Cyber Security or SOC Analyst and a solid understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems. You should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Training and Development

We support your growth through internal and external training, opportunities to work across various cybersecurity specialisms, and assistance in obtaining industry-recognized qualifications like SANS and CISSP. Opportunities for travel, conferences, and staying abreast of cybersecurity innovations are available but not mandatory.

Rewards and Benefits

Starting salary of £44,044 plus benefits such as 25-30 days annual leave, performance recognition, interest-free season ticket loan, pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, on-site facilities, and paid parental leave.

Application Process

Our process includes an application review, virtual interview, and conditional offer. The entire process may take 6-9 months, so we advise continuing current employment until final offers are made.

Eligibility and Requirements

You must be a British citizen or hold dual British nationality and pass the Developed Vetting security clearance. Consider practicalities such as residence in Cheltenham, and note that applications from outside the UK are not accepted until visiting the UK.

Applicants are encouraged to prepare a separate, non-identifiable email for correspondence. Be aware that the application closing date may be brought forward if sufficient applications are received. We recommend applying early.
