Art Teacher - PRU - Education and Training - Guildford

The school is looking for an Art Teacher - PRU to join their site in Guildford and provides support for children aged 5-16 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school provides a safe learning environment for children who suffer from high levels of anxiety, which can result in a lack of focus and challenging behaviour.

The school has a strong reputation in the local community and a proven track record of helping students to get back on track with their learning and development. The school aims to reduce the amount of students that are getting permanently excluded from mainstream school settings.

Job Summary
  1. The school is looking for an art specialist and they are happy to consider teachers making a transition from mainstream education.
  2. Specialist school in Guildford for students with social, emotional needs.
  3. Classes range from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques.
  4. Therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors.
  5. Specialist communication methods such as Makaton and PECS.
  6. Focus on preparation for GCSE subjects and building a curriculum that works for their individual needs.
  7. The school likes to focus on sensory teaching and a creative curriculum. You will have a senior teaching assistant and 2-3 additional LSAs in your class to support you.

Salary: £150 - 220 per day, starting April 25.
