As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Global Banking, Data, Analytics & Technology division, you will play a pivotal role in an agile team committed to enhancing, creating, and delivering high-quality technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Your abilities and contributions will significantly influence the business, and your deep technical knowledge and problem-solving tactics will be utilized to tackle a broad spectrum of challenges across diverse technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Contribute to decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
• Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies.
• Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience in application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages, with Python required.
• Knowledge of software applications and technical processes with hands-on knowledge in disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.
• Ability to understand design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight.
• Experience performing data analytics on AWS platforms.
• Experience in writing efficient SQL queries and implementing complex ETL transformations on big data platforms.
• Experience with Big Data technologies like Spark, Impala, Hive, Redshift, Kafka, etc.
• Experience in data quality testing; capable of writing test cases and scripts, and resolving data issues.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Iceberg is required.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Understanding of application and data design disciplines, especially real-time processing with Kafka.
• Knowledge of the Commercial & Investment Bank business is advantageous.
• Familiarity with database and business intelligence tools; ability to present information engagingly is a plus.
• Experience in Financial Services and Investment Banking is a plus.
• Familiarity with NoSQL platforms like DynamoDB, Cassandra is advantageous.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, including databases, tables/views, stored procedures, and agent jobs.
