Senior Mechanical Fitter

Birmingham Special Purpose Machinery
Machine Assembly Hands-On Engineering Global Projects

We're hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Fitter to join a specialist machinery build team working on bespoke equipment used worldwide. You’ll be assembling a wide range of mechanical systems—from small components to full production lines—using engineering drawings and working closely with design, maintenance, and project teams.

What You’ll Do:
  • Build complex mechanical machinery and sub-assemblies
  • Fit motors, gearboxes, bearings, and shafts to high standards
  • Work from technical drawings to complete full machine builds
  • Modify and refurbish equipment as needed
  • Support hydraulic and pneumatic system assembly
  • Operate manual tools (mills, lathes, drills)
  • Maintain a clean, efficient workshop and support continuous improvement
  • Occasional overseas travel (1–3 times/year)
What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong mechanical fitting or assembly experience
  • Skilled with tools and workshop machinery
  • Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics a plus
  • Recognised mechanical qualification (NVQ3 / BTEC / City & Guilds)
  • Proactive, detail-focused, and a team player
