Qualifications

SEMH Teacher

Do you want to be part of a team which transforms the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)?

Teaching Personnel are looking for qualified Teachers with SEMH experience and a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Greater Manchester.

Qualifications:

  • BSC Health and Social Care Level 3, 4 completed and now on Level 5
  • NCFE CACHE Level 2 award in support work in schools and college

The SEMH role:

  • To provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD / SLD), or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
  • Support young people in their educational and social-emotional journey
  • Planning each session of teaching
  • Providing the young person with holistic and engaging sessions which meet their needs and advance their educational and social-emotional journey
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on the young person's progress

SEMH requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (Qualified Teacher Status / QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and / or other Additional Educational Needs
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
  • Two professional references
  • You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote / online assignments
