JOB DETAILS:

Job title: Travel Immunisation Nurse Lead

Working Hours: Monday to Saturday, between 08:00-20:00, 36 hours per week.

JOB PURPOSE:

The postholder will be responsible for all matters related to travel healthcare, immunisations, and sexual screening queries. They will oversee service organization, timelines, and budgets, ensuring high standards and governance compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and monitor evidence-based, competent care within the service.
• Support organizational and team cohesion to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Assess, plan, implement, audit, and evaluate nursing practices.
• Provide training, clinical supervision, and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as CQC, NaTHNaC, PHE, or PHS.
• Assess clinical competencies, conduct reflective practice, and ensure comprehensive clinical induction.
• Manage clinical performance, staff rotas, leave, and absences.
• Serve as a mentor and point of contact for clinical queries.
• Report and monitor incidents, near misses, and complaints.
• Conduct audits, prepare reports, and share findings for learning.
• Participate in team meetings, communicate updates, and document meetings.
• Maintain accurate documentation and staff compliance with the patient database system, Xmedicus.
• Support the Clinical Director and undertake related duties.
• Manage personnel processes including inductions, reviews, disciplinary actions, and liaising with HR.
• Participate in recruitment processes.
• Attend and support meetings, deputize as needed.
• Support senior management and adhere to company policies.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

• Registered Nurse (RN) on part 1 of the NMC register.
• Ongoing professional development evidence.
• Post-registration travel health qualifications.
• RCN competency level 6 or 7.
• Yellow Fever training.
• BSc or MSc equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge and recent experience in travel and sexual health.
• Experience in teaching and staff development.
• Understanding of cost-effectiveness in healthcare.
• People management skills, including training and performance management.
• Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
• Experience with PGD and PSD frameworks.
• Auditing skills.
• Advanced communication skills.
• Assertiveness and leadership qualities.
• Knowledge of informed consent principles.

DESIRABLE:

• Independent Prescriber (preferred).
