Qualifications

Job description

HSEQ Superintendent (Tankers) – Permanent – Glasgow – £60k – £65k plus benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable ship management company based in Glasgow. Due to expansion, we are looking for an experienced HSEQ Superintendent.

The role of the HSEQ Superintendent consists of being part of a highly motivated group and is responsible for all aspects of technical management of assigned vessels and contributing to a reliable, safe, and cost-effective operation.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Manage and ensure Company vessels are operated safely in compliance with local and international regulatory and statutory maritime frameworks such as but not limited to: ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, etc.
  2. Ensuring on-board compliance with the company’s SMS, new regulations, and Class requirements.
  3. Travel or sail with the vessels for inspections/audits when necessary.
  4. Monitor or report on new or current legislation, which may impact the operation of the ships.
  5. Identify areas for improvements, evaluate, and improve vessel performance.
  6. Drive the implementation of Management of Change for marine matters.
  7. Responding to and closing out near miss reports.
  8. Reviewing risk assessments and updating as required.
Experience Required:
  1. Ideally at least 1 year of experience in a similar role ashore.
  2. Seagoing experience up the rank of Chief Officer or Master on Tankers.
  3. Hold a Class 1 Master Mariner Unlimited or Chief Mate Unlimited license.
  4. Must be good team workers and have a drive for continuous improvement.
  5. Must have good working knowledge of ISM, ISPS, etc.
  6. Must be willing to travel worldwide for vessel inspections.
  7. Due to the requirements of the job, the successful candidate will be expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of Glasgow.
