Job Summary

The Protective Life Foundation processes hundreds of grant requests annually, awarding approximately $4.5 million in nonprofit support each year. The Foundation actively engages employees in community initiatives, including civic, economic, health, arts, culture, and education programs. In Birmingham, Alabama, the Foundation supports neighborhood revitalization near Protective Stadium. Since inception, over $90 million has been awarded in grants.

Responsibilities
  1. Execute tasks within foundation projects: convening meetings, drafting communications, facilitating, and reporting to stakeholders.
  2. Support grant-making processes: workflow, record keeping, and payments.
  3. Manage external projects, coordinating with Marketing and Communications for messaging.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with Birmingham city representatives and neighborhood leaders near Protective Stadium.
  5. Participate in community committees and report to Foundation stakeholders.
  6. Assist with the annual United Way campaign and Week of Service activities.
  7. Coordinate activities involving Protective employees with local elementary schools.
  8. Assist with office management and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
  • 1-2 years of community relations or development experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management, strong communication and writing skills, high organization, and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience in nonprofit work or community projects is a plus.
  • College degree preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $51,500 to $67,000, commensurate with experience and location. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, mental health support, paid time off, parental leave, disability coverage, retirement plans, and wellbeing programs like ProHealth Rewards. Eligibility varies by position.
