We are looking for a motivated and experienced Associate in Birmingham to take a leading role in transport planning, appraisal, business case development, and wider innovation at Sweco. Following recent project wins, we aim to expand our Appraisal, Strategy & Advisory team to assist our clients in shaping plans and securing funding. The successful candidate will help deliver various transport planning projects and contribute to business development.

This role offers flexible working with at least three days in the office and options for adjusted start and finish times.

What does the role involve?

You will work within a team environment, supporting project delivery from bidding to client management. The focus areas include:

  • Business case advisory
  • Multi-modal transport appraisal & economics
  • Work winning/ Securing new work

To be successful, you’ll need:

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and Europe, with the following qualities and experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, Economics, or related (desirable)
  • Transport planning/engineering chartership or progress towards it (desirable)
  • Thought leadership (desirable)
  • Experience leading business case, policy, and strategy projects across modes
  • Experience with multi-modal cost-benefit analysis
  • Experience with local government projects and frameworks
  • Understanding of local government priorities
  • Innovative transport scheme development (desirable)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and share knowledge
