Job description

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their caring and committed team at a prestigious school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to make a positive difference in the lives of students with additional needs. This role begins September 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
  1. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support students with a variety of special educational needs.
  2. Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  3. Assist with the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) for students with SEN.
  4. Support students with physical, emotional, and behavioural needs in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
  5. Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  6. Encourage students to develop their social skills, independence, and confidence.
  7. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
  1. Has a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  2. Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school environment.
  3. Is patient, empathetic, and understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs.
  4. Has good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Is flexible, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  6. Holds relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience.
