Qualifications

  • Experience in a large accounting firm or Financial Accounting and Reporting team.
  • Experience in external corporate financial reporting or auditing.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs).

Job description

Benenden Health is a leading UK not-for-profit healthcare provider committed to offering affordable private healthcare. As the Finance function and wider business continue to evolve and grow, we are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join the team.

Purpose

To support the Finance Manager and Financial Controller with the delivery of the Society's financial, tax, and capital reporting, ensuring high quality, accurate, and efficient delivery. This role offers opportunities for development to become the Society's technical accounting and tax expert.

The post holder will:
  1. Ensure accurate and timely delivery of monthly and periodic financial reporting.
  2. Prepare annual Financial Statements for the Society and subsidiaries and liaise with auditors.
  3. Calculate the Society's capital requirement under a Solvency II methodology and produce the Society's capital reporting.
  4. Produce quarterly VAT Returns and support tax computations & compliance.
  5. Develop investment and treasury reporting, including fund performance insights, returns tracking, and cash flow and liquidity forecasting.
  6. Support the quarterly Executive Asset and Liability Committee (EALC) reporting.
  7. Collaborate with Hospital finance colleagues to ensure efficient financial reporting and returns.
  8. Maintain the integrity of the fixed assets register and ensure assets are capitalized in line with accounting policy.
  9. Develop expertise in technical accounting, providing guidance on standards and complex transactions.
Skills and Experience
  1. Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  2. Experience in a large accounting firm or a Financial Accounting and Reporting team.
  3. Experience in external corporate financial reporting or auditing large entity statutory accounts.
  4. Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs).
  5. Knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
