Girlguiding Scotland - Honorary Treasurer Position

We are seeking a dedicated honorary treasurer to work closely with the chair of the business management and finance committee. The treasurer will advise the trustee board on all aspects of business management and finance related to Girlguiding Scotland.

The honorary treasurer will contribute to delivering Girlguiding Scotland’s strategy as a trustee and member of the finance committee. Responsibilities include overseeing the finance function, providing guidance on finance and investments, and collaborating with the finance manager and committee chair.

As a trustee, you will be an active member of the Girlguiding Scotland trustee board, chaired by the chief commissioner. The board focuses on strategic direction and performance to ensure continued development aligned with member needs.

Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience in setting and monitoring investment strategies and managing significant investment portfolios.
  • Experience reporting to board level, audit, and knowledge of charity SORP (FRS102).
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, and statutory financial reporting.
  • Ability to work remotely using various technologies and access online papers and information.
  • Eligibility to become a trustee in Scotland.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • CA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or similar qualification.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Ability to think strategically for the benefit of members across Scotland.
  • Approachable, open-minded, flexible, and collaborative.
  • Enthusiastic about shaping the future and addressing challenges.
  • Proactive in building relationships with volunteers and staff to facilitate work between meetings.
