Senior RF Hardware Engineer

Contract 10-12 plus months, M-F, 40 hours weekly

Hybrid work environment; must be able to commute to the office as needed for program activities.

System Development Division (SDD) is focused on delivering Defense capabilities by developing advanced technology systems that meet customer needs. Our programs deliver reliable, cost-efficient capabilities in operational environments, considering the entire lifecycle from conceptualization to deployment, leveraging novel technologies for first-of-a-kind systems.

SDD seeks a Senior Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of advanced multi-function RF systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions, potentially leading efforts in Radar and EW/RF convergence.

Your responsibilities include designing RF hardware for operational environments, ensuring standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse. The role offers opportunities for technical leadership, project planning, design, analysis, testing, and fielding capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have proven achievements in RF, radar, communications systems, RF component selection, analog and digital signal processing, SDRs, FPGA firmware and hardware, microcontrollers, physics modeling, systems engineering, and testing. Strong teamwork, communication, and technical skills are essential. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and effective communication are expected.

What you will do:

  • Support RF hardware development from requirements to delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and implement system requirements and architecture
  • Create hardware designs with technical justification, support assembly, integration, and testing, including:
  • Component selection (active/passive devices, antennas, connectors, cables, enclosures)
  • Conduct analyses like RF link budgets
  • Support system assembly, initial operation, and testing (including test plans)

Initial tasks may focus on RF systems for airborne applications, with potential for other applications as needed.

Who you are:

  • Experienced in RF system design, development, verification, testing, and data analysis
  • Proven track record in delivering advanced development hardware
  • Effective team player, capable of working under tight deadlines
  • Experienced in technical briefings and reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMS)
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD; equivalent experience considered
