Accounts Assistant Level 2 AAT Apprentice
We are a small multi-office accountancy firm looking to add apprentices to both our Carterton and Didcot offices. Assist with bookkeeping activities, including sales and purchase ledgers.
Wage: £17,355 a year
Training course: Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm with one hour for lunch. 37 hours 30 minutes a week
Possible start date: Monday 1 September
Duration: 1 year 1 month

What you'll do at work:
- Perform office administration tasks to support the practice
- Prepare and process invoices accurately and timely
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Conduct bank analysis and contribute to the preparation of extended trial balances
- Handle data entry and maintain financial records in line with data security requirements
- Update the company website and social media platforms with relevant information
- Contact clients to follow up on unpaid invoices and assist with credit control
- Record transactional data accurately using finance and accounting software packages
- Support the team with routine accounting tasks and reconciliations
- Assist in preparing financial reports and documents as required

Training: An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
College or training organisation: ABINGDON AND WITNEY COLLEGE
Your training course: Accounts or finance assistant (level 2) equal to GCSE. Course contents include:
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to manage data.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements.
Your training plan:
- 13 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment
- Delivery model: Work-based training with your employer, day release during term time
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice's time at work
Qualifications included:
- Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths
- AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting
- Level 2 Accountants or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship
End Point Assessment:
- In-tray test
- Portfolio
- Structured Interview
Essential qualifications: GCSE in English & Maths (grade A*- C / 9 - 4). Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have.
