Operational Risk, Resilience and Continuity Specialist

Salary: c. £35,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week Part time considered (may require occasional weekends/evenings)

Contract: Permanent

We have a fantastic opening for an Operational Risk, Resilience and Continuity Specialist. The post holder will support the Senior Manager to deliver required outcomes to meet the Operational resilience regulation, support the business continuity programme and to drive the approach to risk culture within the Society.

This role will be executed in collaboration with business areas and will include interaction with all levels of the leadership team across the Society. The role will involve analysing and interpreting a range of Management Information from departments as well as the risk, resilience and continuity system tools.

The role holder will be required to present reports to regular governance groups as required.


What the role will look like:

  • Support the Senior Manager in the delivery of agreed 1st Line Operational Risk, Resilience & Continuity requirements and business objectives.
  • Review and embed the Operational Risk, Resilience & Business Continuity policies and related frameworks for the Society, in accordance with both industry best practice as well as meeting regulatory standards.
  • Leading the activities to maintain, improve and embed 1st line risk management through the Operations division, by providing guidance, support and education to assist departments in identifying, assessing and managing Operational Risks.
  • Facilitating the use of the Society’s Risk Management system (Riskonnect) and Resilience & Continuity system (Shadow Planner) by providing training and support.
  • Conduct quality checks and control reporting repositories to ensure adherence to departmental standards.
  • Provide challenge and support on business processes to ensure good risk management outcomes, including improved control where required.
  • Support the Risk Event reporting process ensuring data quality checks and root cause analysis is conducted to identify actions that help to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitoring and production of regular reporting including ExCo level, on dispensations, agreed key performance and risk indicators identified across all areas of Operational Risk, Resilience and Continuity.
  • Coordinate and support required regulatory reporting (Self-Assessment, COREP).

What you will bring to the role:

  • Knowledge of business critical functions/services, applications, system platforms, technical infrastructure, suppliers etc;
  • Experience working in a customer focused, front line service area.
  • Operational Resilience and Business Continuity experience, including awareness of relevant regulations and guidance principles.
  • Risk Management experience, ideally in the Financial Services sector.
  • Willingness to challenge business areas on existing processes
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels of the business, including Senior Leaders and Executive.
  • Experience of dealing with situations of stress and rapid change e.g. crisis.
