The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-orientedOutwards Operations/Reinsurance Managerto lead on all aspects of our outwards reinsurance activities. The role is critical to providing critical oversight of the reinsurance activities of our key outsourced provider and ensuring efficient and accurate operations of the reinsurance activity. You will be responsible for administering reinsurance programs, overseeing the activities of our outsourced provider as it relates to outwards reinsurance activity, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate and provide oversight of the reinsurance administration activities, including premium calculation, recoveries, claims reporting, and data management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Analyse and report on reinsurance market trends and developments that may impact the company's risk strategy.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations for senior leadership and Board committees as required.
  • Support renewal processes by preparing underwriting information, exposure data, and loss history summaries.
  • Work with the business to deliver analysis that assists in developing, implementing, and managing the company's outwards reinsurance strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, finance, and claims teams to assess reinsurance needs and support pricing, reserving, and capital planning activities.
  • In conjunction with actuarial and underwriting, monitor the performance and effectiveness of reinsurance programs and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Lead and develop team members (if applicable) to support the growth and effectiveness of the reinsurance function.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, actuarial science, or a related field (professional designations such as ACII, CPCU, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in outwards reinsurance, either within an insurer, reinsurer, or broker.
  • Strong technical knowledge of treaty and facultative reinsurance across multiple lines of business.
  • Solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance financials, including loss triangles, IBNR, and capital models.
  • Highly organized with strong project management abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with reinsurance administration systems and exposure management tools is an advantage.
