Job Description

We’re seeking a Shift Leader at One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, to work in a dynamic retail environment. You will oversee store activities, manage duty shifts, and lead a team to ensure a clean, fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.

Customer focus is key; you will strive to improve service through coaching and feedback, monitor store performance, and implement practical improvements. Ensuring safety and security, managing store operations, and supporting the team are integral parts of this role.

You will be Responsible For

  1. Leading the team to provide excellent shopping experiences.
  2. Opening/closing the store, ensuring safety and operational decisions are appropriate.
  3. Acting as the main contact in the absence of the Store Manager.
  4. Supporting community and charity events to foster an inclusive environment.
  5. Maintaining store cleanliness and presentation.
  6. Prioritizing product replenishment based on customer needs.
  7. Ensuring accurate pricing and signage.
  8. Handling overcharges and queue management.
  9. Managing staff schedules and breaks effectively.
  10. Monitoring store performance and implementing improvements.
  11. Adhering to health and safety routines.
  12. Communicating effectively with the team.
  13. Sharing operational ideas with the Store Manager.
  14. Focusing on customer satisfaction and resolving queries.
  15. Recognizing colleagues' excellent service.
  16. Addressing obstacles to service delivery.
  17. Escalating issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
  18. Managing staffing levels and reacting to short-term absences.
  19. Being a Keyholder, attending alarm calls for store safety.
  20. Managing internal communications and feedback.
  21. Balancing service and replenishment duties.
  22. Supporting absence management and conducting return-to-work interviews.
  23. Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, seeking advice and coaching.
  24. If applicable, managing Post Office operations, including passing background checks.
