Job Opportunity: Buyer at a Groundworks Company

Nicholas Associates has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a reputable groundworks company based in the East Midlands.

This company is known for high-quality site delivery and works as a subcontractor to PLC housebuilders such as Redrow Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway Homes, Vistry Group, and Keepmoat Homes. Due to strategic growth, they are expanding their team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build relationships and manage suppliers, negotiate prices, and place orders.
2. Manage the day-to-day procurement of materials for projects.
3. Liaise with on-site teams to source cost-effective and high-quality materials.
4. Monitor supplier performance, quality, prices, and development.
5. Ensure health and safety compliance.
6. Identify new suppliers and products.
7. Prepare quotations and proposals.
8. Attend team meetings and site visits.
9. Maintain cost reports to maximize efficiency.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Buyer within a groundworks contractor or house builder.
• Knowledge of groundworks materials such as aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and drainage.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and site teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and managing large data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
