Employing more than 1,700 people, BDUK provides engineering sustainment and support for aircraft in service with the UK armed forces, along with virtual and instructor-led training. Leveraging our established defence business in the UK and blending our local expertise with our global approach, BDUK is well positioned to support the UK with its current and future defence and security challenges.

The Role

This position is part of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation within BDUK, working as part of a team in support of our key programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring process adherence, accurate and timely work recording, and compliance with contractual/regulatory requirements.

The role requires good communication skills, the ability to distribute and sequence technical work requirements to the team, manage demanding workloads, deliver high standards, and maintain schedules. The candidate must understand and interpret technical documents, drawings, and publications. Knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA), and Safety Management System (SMS) is essential, along with the application of these within their area of responsibility.

This is a fully onsite role with a fixed shift pattern, covering 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assigned maintenance tasks in accordance with Boeing's MAA MRP Part 145 approval or MOD customer approval.
  • Support base maintenance and work as part of the E-7 Flight Test team or within the KR640 environment.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and modify systems by changing, removing, replacing, or upgrading aerospace components.
  • Perform troubleshooting of aircraft systems to identify faults and repair components.
  • Be flexible with work locations and times to ensure timely aircraft delivery.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to peers and team members.
  • Exercise or work under supervision, and escalate risks and issues promptly.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and trainees as directed.
  • Promote a culture of open and honest reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognized trade apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes, human factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety, and COSHH.
  • Experience in commercial or defence aviation sectors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective team player with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
